Anyone Up for a Thanksgiving Weekend Jammies Sewalong?

Allyn and I got talking on Facebook, and we thought a pajama sew-along might be fun. Anyone want to join us? We are planning on doing it over the Thanksgiving Day weekend here in the States. So we’d start up next Wednesday night. Between now and then gives us time to get the pattern(s) and fabrics. Anyone want to join?

11-15 ETA:
Wow – looks like I’m not the only one who wants a new set of jammies! I’ve started a Flickr group so you can post your photos and progress

Thanksgiving Weekend 2010 Pajama Sewalong Flickr Group. Anyone can join along, and there are just a few rules, which boil down to “stay on topic”. So come on over and let’s make some sleepwear!

Feel free to make sleepwear for any of your family/loved ones as part of this sewalong. I’m making jammies for me, but some folks want to make them for kids, spouses, etc. And if you prefer a slinky negligee instead of pajamas? Be my guest. I’m a total newb at running sewalongs, but I’ve posted the picture of the OOP Jalie yoga pants I’m going to use. I’ll post pictures of my fabric when I have it. Feel free to add your pictures as we go! First up, if you want a suggestion, is to post your pattern and/or fabric choices.

Thanks, Ann! I’d love any sewalong but what lucky timing for me — I just finished Jalie 2686 pj bottoms for my daughter and liked them so much I want to sew up the pajamas for myself.

  2. Sounds like fun! Count me in.

  3. Gertie says:

YES! I’ve been wanting to sew some pjs for a while now and I’ll have lots of free time that weekend. Count me in!

  4. Connie says:

Hey that sounds fun- even though our Thanksgiving was last month!

  5. Mary Beth says:

I’d love to! It might help me get the sewing area set back up. Anxious to get back to sewing!

  6. Carol says:

I’d like to join in! I have a Cyndy Taylor Oates PJ pattern (Pajama Party) that I love and have made several pair and I think it’s time for another.

  7. Shannon says:

I’m in, I’ve been wanting to make some new fall/winter themed ones!

  8. Laura says:

    What fun! I’m in.

  9. janlynn says:

I’d love to join in. I just quit my job so I have some free time. (Trust me, quitting was a good thing and I really don’t have much spare time.) I just bought great Christmas fleece at the thrift store and I have a new book about pj’s complete with patterns.
Sometimes the stars just line up!
I’ll go wash the fabric and clean up the sewing room now.

  10. Jenny says:

Oh I would love to. This could give me the needed push to finish what I’m working on and get out the “Gorgeous” lavender stretch charmeuse that has been set aside for jammies for over a year. What a wonderful way to unwind with the Thanksgiving crazies and Christmas decorating.

  11. Maureen says:

I certainly could use some jammie pants to lounge in . OK–let’s do it!

  12. NancyDaQ says:

I’m due for some more pj bottoms and was thinking about them on Saturday. Why not?

  13. Rachel says:

Hey, what a cool idea! I’m in. It will be a chance to use my new serger. Awesome!

  14. Gigi says:

Of course, I’ve misunderstood once again (what else is new?). I thought we were sewing IN our jammies, not sewing jammies! While you all are sewing new PJs, I’ll be working on daywear while wearing PJs and sipping Mimosas.

  15. Sarah says:

Count me in. I need to make some comfy pj’s that I can sip hot cocoa in as the winter sets in :-)

  16. Lisette M says:

My mother-in-law will be using my sewing room as a guest room, so I can’t join in the fun =(

  17. Ginnie says:

I have a big stash of green plaid flannel just itchin’ to become comfy PJs…. you just might have another in the group!

  18. Phyllis says:

Alas, we’re booked all weekend with family coming up from PA…but if I could I’d be making up something from HP’s Boudoir of Bliss, maybe the Bel-Air Lounging PJ’s in a nice silk charmeuse.

  19. Jennifer says:

I’ve been meaning to finish up some red flannel-back satin pjs started last year. This is a great excuse! Thanks for starting this.

  20. Sue says:

I would love to join in too.

  21. It’s a busy busy week, but I’m gonna try to be there. Sounds like great fun, and I definitely need a new pair of jammies.

  22. Wanett says:

Oh! I’m in! I have some Dr. Seuss fabric all set to make into jammies for the kids. This will be the perfect thing to get me moving. And make room in the stash!

  23. Kirsten D says:

This is a great idea, this may just be the thing to get me back in that sewing room!

  24. Becky says:

I would love to join the sew along, but I am going to be in Whistler, British Columbia skiing for the holiday. Somebody has to sacrifice I guess. :) Happy sewing everyone!

  25. shellie says:

Is it too late to join in?? I’m making matching PJs for my nephews for Christmas (Dr. Seuss – just like Wanett!!) thx Ann! :)

  26. Michelle says:

I’m in! I’ve wanted to make up a few pieces of the HP Boudoir of Bliss collection for winter, and I bought enough of the reversible/brushed plaid cotton (so soft!) to pretty much make myself an entire pj collection, so that’s what I’ll be making.

Shannon from Mushywear tipped me off–I’m in! I’m going to use Juicy fabric I bought from lucysfabrics.com before she stopped selling fabrics.

  29. Becky says:

Heard about this thru Mushywear. Sounds like fun, I am in! I will make pj’s for me and my daughters. Can’t wait to see everybody’s creations!

    :)

  30. Katherine says:

I won’t be sewing jammies this time round…still plugging away on dance costumes, but I thought some of the sew-a-long-ees might be interested in this free hotpatterns pattern at fabric.com
