And the Winner is…

After finishing the major construction of the jacket last night, I still hadn’t made a final decision on the trims. Once I woke up this morning, I had an “Aha!” moment – try the jacket on with the different trims pinned to it. Duh, right? When I did, the choice became obvious.

The winner!

The warm pink looks much better with my skin tone. The other colors washed me out, unfortunately. I may use a different chain. Susan Khalje sells chain that is narrower than the ones I picked up in New York, so I may order some from her. BTW, her chains are the best weight for Chanel-style jackets. I used one from her as my hem weight. Joyce, the president of the New England ASDP chapter, also suggested using beads instead of a chain, so I think I’ll run out to a bead store at lunch today to see what the local options are. But tonight I will definitely attach the mohair braid while DWTS is on.

Happy sewing!

Yay! It looks great with the pink. I definitely vote for beading (more work, I know). It will be such a polished piece

This looks pretty. I wouldn’t think to use a chain on the front but it does look good. BTW, I am having fun sewing through the fabrics you sent from GFs.

….burnt gold and pink beads with the pink mohair trim?
I just love your jacket – I’m aiming high when I say I want to make one for myself at some time in the future!

The jacket looks fantastic. Beads would be super and worth the extra work.

I’m so glad you picked the pink! I saw the various choices yesterday and while they all looked good, the pink just sprang to life a little bit more in my view. I like the chain but can imagine that beads would look even more refined and unique.

    Ahhh…This looks perfect!

Love it – glad you’re using the chain, too!
