Oy! What a Week!

How Cute is This Rayon Challis?

Yowzers! This week both flew by and dragged. Have you ever had a week like that? I haven’t had any time to sew, thanks to trying to get the Big Sale going at Gorgeous Fabrics. And I (seriously) had to enter a metric ton of fabrics. I’m not complaining – I love what I do!

But tomorrow? I am going to make my maxi dress, come hell or high water. And if that gets done early. I’m going to stitch up my dress-form double outer shell.

So while I didn’t sew anything new, I did the final edits on the videos. The first one is up, and the rest are waiting to go up on Youtube. DS the younger graduated from Middle School. I can’t believe I’ll have two highschoolers next year! He received several awards. Woot woot!

Next week is going to be crazy with a capital Cray. And then? Ahhhhhh…

So, what are you sewing???

  1. Are those little heart-shaped padlocks on the rayon challis? When I was in Paris, we noticed a particular bridge across the Seine that must have had a thousand padlocks attached to the wire fencing. Every padlock had two names written on it in permanent marker. Our tour guide told us that Parisian lovers write their names on the locks, secure them to the bridge, and then throw the key away into the Seine. Isn’t that romantic? Especially since, in the U.S., the locks would never be allowed to remain on public property. If it was New York instead of Paris, some grouchy city official would be sent with wire cutters to remove them. Anyways, that’s what I thought of immediately when I saw that fabric.

What am I sewing now? I’m still working on the quilt for my son that has taken over my sewing room for months now, but I have some pretty knit prints waiting patiently in the corner to be sewn. I bookmarked your video; I’ll be watching it again when I’m ready to switch gears after the quilt is done. I always love seeing what you’ve sewn and I’m looking forward to seeing your maxi dress!

Those are heart-shaped padlocks, Rebecca. Aren’t they adorable? That’s such a cool story about the Parisian bridge!

That is the cutest fabric ever! I hope to snag some of that this weekend. I’ll need to find a “fat”(me) floaty dress pattern to do it justice.
