Thank you for this! Do you have to line all woolens to keep them from being itchy?
Not all woolens are itchy, NuJoi. If a fabric feels scratchy to me, then sure, I’ll line it. But in most cases these days, good quality wools are soft against the skin, so you don’t have to line them.
Thanks, Ann, very useful info, as always. I love to sew with wool, too.
thank you! thank you! thank you!
Wonderful, Ann! And I agree with you about wool crepe–such a wonderful fabric to sew AND wear!
Wow thank you for this video! I’m sewing with wool for the first time to make the Anise jacket from Colette patterns – all the tips are so useful and I can’t believe how good the sleeve looks after some steam!
You’re so cute! Greatly produced video. Professional and informative. What pattern is that top with the cute kimono sleeves??
Do you mean the blue one that I’m wearing? That’s Style Arc’s Creative Cate top. It’s super comfortable, and it sews up in about an hour from start to finish.
Can you wash wool, or do you have to dry clean it? It would seem somewhat perverse if one of the world’s oldest fibers had to be dry-cleaned, when dry cleaning as we know it has only been around since the 19th century…
Thank you for the video. You finally made it clear to me the difference in some of the weights and textures of the wools in general, but also it will help me choose the right one for a skirt I want to make for winter wear. And of course I will visit your wonderful fabric site first!
I have been really enjoying your videos, Ann. …thanks so much for taking the time to share your knowledge and experience by filming these for us!
Thank you! I love wool, and refresher course was just what I needed heading into my fall sewing. Great professional presentation!
