I was going to do a post today, but the events of the day in Newtown, CT overshadow anything that I might say and any pretty that I might post. Newtown is the home of Threads Magazine and Taunton Press. I have driven by Sandy Hill Elementary School when I went to Threads. This is every parent’s nightmare and a national tragedy. The last time I felt this way was on September 11, 2001. Please keep the people of Newtown in your thoughts and prayers.

Many families have teachers. Every family either currently has or has had students.
We are Newtown, Conn.
And we are horrified and heartbroken by this senseless tragedy.
Ann, thank you for so eloquently expressing what we are all feeling today….can there even be words enough?
I’m a teacher myself and the proud parent of a 14 year old. I don’t think there’s any words for the shock and fear that parents and children all over the world feel when something like this happens.
Newtown, Conn. you are in my prayers.
Very sad.
My heartfelt prayers are with the parents and the first responders. Words are just so inadequate at times like this.
My thoughts are for hope for the future, hope that these lost lives with make a difference somehow validate the sacrifices made by thse who tried to save the children. My fear is that we will readily accept that it is an unavoidable tragedy and move on towards acceptance and complacency giving the next heinous crazed person that decided to do one better, We need more truth from the remaining living family members to help us make sense of the insane heinous act of a damaged subhuman.
