Eva Addendum, and Next Up

Sherril commented on the fact that the gathers in my Eva top seemed to pretty much disappear. Here’s a picture of the pattern pieces for the bodice front and the neckband:

Pattern pieces next to each other

As you can see, the pattern piece for the gathering isn’t all that much longer than the notches on the band to which you gather it. The band measures 2 11/16 inches from notch to notch. The front measures 3 1/2 inches. It should be easy enough to add more gathers. I would slash and spread midway between the two notches. I’d slash all the way through to the center front, and end at the side seamline, creating a pivot point. I’d mirror the slash on the other side. I’ll do just  that next time I make one of these tops.

Next up on my cutting table is Vogue 8787 I need another LBD! I need to do some surgery on the bodice before I can cut into my fabric, but I’ll be handing my computer over to the geniuses tonight for a tune up, so that will free up my evening to do some sewing. Woo hoo – freedom!!!!!

I wore a sleeveless version of this dress to dinner last night made from velvet I bought from you. It is the perfect little black dress if you want something stylish but understated. Looking forward to seeing yours.

  4. Shel says:

Interesting, the neckband on the Style Arc top is straight and not curved at all.

  5. Rosie says:

Aww Hoover you are adorable! Da puppeh!

I love this! What kind of fabric did you use? Is it lined?
