Exactly What is Gorgeous Fabrics?
We are an on-line vendor of the finest fabrics at fabulous prices! Gorgeous Fabrics is the brainchild and passion of Ann Steeves.  A sewing instructor, Threads author, and former contributing editor to SewStylish, Ann is a sewing expert who has been creating, learning new techniques and improving on that knowledge continuously since her mom taught her to sew at age 12. She shares that knowledge freely on Her Blog.

 

A big advantage of buying your fabric from Gorgeous Fabrics is that Ann sews almost all of her own clothing. She knows how a fabric will drape and hang on the body, what kinds of patterns will work with it, and what construction methods and tools will work best. Unlike other fabric stores, we don’t need to bring in outsiders to show you how to use our fabrics. At Gorgeous Fabrics, we KNOW sewing, and we LOVE fabrics! It’s the ultimate fashion sewing combination.

What payment methods do you accept?
We accept American Express, Mastercard, Visa, Discover and Paypal. If we issue you a refund, the refund is made to the original payment source. So if you paid by credit card, we refund to that card; if you paid using Paypal, we refund to your Paypal account. We cannot refund more than the original amount of your purchase.

 

How do you ship my fabrics?
For US clients in the 48 contiguous states, we ship UPS Ground. UPS cannot ship to a PO Box in the lower 48, so please provide a street address. In most cases, we ship your fabric within two business days of your order, often sooner. Allow 4-7 business days for delivery, depending on how far away you are from Boston, MA. If you wish to expedite shipping, please contact us for pricing. If we make a mistake and ship to the wrong address, we will, of course, fix the mistake at no charge to you. But if you give us an incorrect address and we have to retrieve your package, there is a $15 retrieval surcharge which we will bill to you prior to re-sending your package. Also, if you need us to reroute your package enroute, there is a $15 surcharge that UPS bills to us, so we must invoice you prior to rerouting. For Hawaii, Alaska and APO addresses, shipping is by USPS priority mail.

We do not put a receipt in your box. If you need one, you can print it out by clicking on your name on the upper left side of the screen. That will take you to a page where you can see your order history. Just click on the order you desire and view it or print that out. Or you can also send us an email and we’ll be happy to send it to you!

 

Do You Ship Internationally?

We ship to the following international destinations: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bermuda, Brunei, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UAE, and the United Kingdom. If you are outside of those locations, we recommend you work with a freight forwarder. See below for the shipping rates to Canada and other International destinations.  Please note that these are estimates. If we can ship for less, we do and we refund any overage.

Again, these numbers are ESTIMATES, and they are designed to be high. As soon as we know the actual shipping and handling, we refund the difference. We never charge more than the estimate, regardless of the actual shipping cost. If you have a mail forwarder, we are happy to ship to that address, in which case Domestic US rates apply. International customers are responsible for any duties, VAT or other local taxes that may apply. Please do not ask us to mark your fabrics as gifts or samples. It is illegal and we can all get in big trouble for it.

 

All international shipments are sent by USPS Mail. We send you an automated email the day your order ships. PLEASE NOTE:  international mail deliveries can take as long as several weeks. Once we ship your package we have no control over the time it takes to get to you. We send you a tracking number so you can see its progress. Thank you for your patience!

 

APO/FPO, Alaska, Hawaii and International shipments are sent out once per week.

 

I just got an email saying my order is “Complete.” What does that mean?
That means that we have shipped your order!

 

Do you send a tracking number?
We don’t send it automatically, but if you email us, we will be happy to send it to you.

 

Where is my receipt?
In an effort to be environmentally friendly, we do not send packing slips or receipts with domestic and US territory orders. We send you an email automatically when you order that tells you what is in your order. We send another one when we complete (that’s GF-speak for “ship”) your order. Both of those emails should get to you right away. If you don’t receive them, please check your junk mail folder, or send us an email and we will send you a copy.

 

You can print out your order history at any time (see note above on how to do that), or you can send us an email and we’re happy to send it to you electronically. We do include a physical receipt with international orders, for customs purposes.

 

If I don’t like it, can I return it?
At Gorgeous Fabrics, we do our very best to describe fabrics accurately.  Fabric is not returnable unless it arrives damaged or if we make a mistake and ship you the wrong fabric.  So please, choose your fabrics carefully.  We do.  We want you to be as happy with them as we are. Any issues must be brought to our attention within 30 days of ordering. After that time, we can not change or exchange, so please check your fabrics as soon as you receive them. No exchanges or refunds will be issued unless you contact us first.

 

What do I do if my fabric is damaged during shipping?
In the rare instance that your fabric is damaged during shipping, contact us immediately. Make sure that you keep the original box we sent, along with the shipping label. Without those, the shipping carriers (UPS and USPS) will not allow us to file a claim on your behalf, and we wouldn’t want that!

 

Can I get swatches?
Swatches are available for most of our fabrics. To order a swatch, click on the image of the swatch on the fabric’s page. It’s beneath the big picture of the fabric. This will take you to the swatch page, where you can add it to your shopping bag. Swatches are $1.75 each, which includes first class postage anywhere in the world. Because of the nature of our business, we can’t guarantee that a fabric will still be available before you receive your swatches. We cannot hold fabrics for any reason.

 

I can’t buy today. Can you hold it for me?
No. Fabrics are sold on a first-come-first-served basis.

 

On occasion, we may run short on, or run out of, a fabric before we can cut it for your order. In that case, we always try to let you know of the problem. We also always will let you pick a different fabric. If we can’t get in touch with you within a reasonable period of time, we will refund that fabric to you and send the rest of your order, so you don’t wait and wonder what happened to your fabrics.

 

What’s your privacy policy?
Our clients’ privacy is paramount to us.  Gorgeous Fabrics never shares your information with ANYONE.  We ask for your phone number in case there is a problem with your order, and for UPS deliveries.  Other than that, we won’t call you and we won’t give out any of your personal information.

 

We are very serious about your security as well. We use Comodo security to protect your data. We do not store your payment information anywhere on our site, so no one can get at it through us.

 

Do you have sales?
We sure do! We announce sales by email, on our Facebook page, and on the banners on our site. For clarity’s sake, we use the military definition of midnight (i.e. midnight marks the start of any date, not the end). All sale times are in the Eastern US Time Zone.

 

The best way to stay informed of sales is to sign up for our emails, or follow our Facebook page and blog postings. Sale prices will not be extended beyond end of the sale. The only way to guarantee sale pricing is to place an order during the sale. Sale prices can not be applied retroactively to previously sold merchandise.

 

Do you have coupons?
Occasionally we have coupons for organizations like ASG, ASDP and others. Check the Members’ section of your organization to see if one is available to you. For new customers, we offer a NEW coupon. This is a one-time 5% discount on non-sale items. You are welcome and encouraged to use it on your first order, but you can use it at any time on any full price fabrics. NEW does not apply to sale items, and it is not available during site-wide sales. We can not apply coupons after an order is placed.

 

Do you sell by the yard, or by the meter/metre?
We sell fabrics by the yard, unless otherwise noted. Exceptions include (but aren’t limited to) muslin, which we sell in 5-yard lengths; certain closeout fabrics, which are sold in multi-yard lengths; buttons, which we sell by the dozen or half-dozen; pattern paper, which we sell by the 100 yard roll; and shoulder pads, which we sell by the pair.

 

Fabrics are cut in one continuous piece. If you order quantity 3 yards, we send you a continuous length of fabric measuring 3 yards total.

 

How do you price your fabric?
Fabric is priced per-yard, unless otherwise noted. The minimum purchase is one yard.

 

Can I order fractions of yards?
YES! You can order fabrics in the Wovens, Knits and Specialty Fabrics in 1/2 yard increments, with a minimum purchase of 1 yard of any fabric.

 

The following categories are full-yard or full-piece only: Leather and Suede, Linings, Muslin/Notions, Clearance Knits, Clearance Wovens.

 

How can I tell if the fabric colors on my monitor are correct?
Colors on monitors can vary. While many of our color names give an indication of the shade, they are not exact. Whenever possible, we try to give you the closest Pantone color number. We use the 2015 Fashion + Home Color Guide. If you don’t have a Pantone deck, you can purchase one from Pantone.com, as well as from several eBay sellers. Pantone numbers are our approximation only, and for reference if you have a Color Guide. We are also adding hotlinks to Pantone colors in fabrics. They are available in newer fabric listings, and we’ll add them to older fabrics as time allows. If you want to see the exact color, we urge you to buy a swatch of your fabric.

 

Can I get free fabric for my club/blog/class/sewalong?
Gorgeous Fabrics occasionally donates to select tax-exempt charitable and educational organizations only. If you would like us to provide an in-kind donation to your organization, please contact us. You must provide proof of IRS 501(c)(3) status to be considered. There are no exceptions to this rule, sorry. The IRS makes it so.

 

What are Gorgeous Points?

We’re so glad you asked! We have a great loyalty program for our customers. Each dollar you spend on cut fabric lengths (excluding muslin) earns one point toward a discount on a future  order at Gorgeous Fabrics.

 

For every dollar you spend* at Gorgeous Fabrics, you earn a point towards discounts on future purchases. So if you spend $20, you earn 20 Gorgeous Points, $30 = 30 points, etc. It’s so easy. Here’s how it works:

 

Each fabric tells you how many points you get per yard or per piece.

*Points accrue for fabric yardage purchases only. They do not accrue for purchases of swatches, gift certificates, muslin or notions, nor can they be redeemed for any of those items. Points cannot be applied to prior purchases, and they cannot be applied to sale items or shipping charges. Point values may change at any time without notice, though that won’t affect points you have already accrued. Points are not transferable. You MUST have an account with us to accrue and redeem points. If you check out as a guest you will not receive points for your purchase. If you cancel an order or if we refund any or all of your order, the appropriate number of points earned will be deducted from your account automatically.

 

If you have a Gorgeous Fabrics account you can start earning points immediately. In order to earn and redeem points, you must have an account set up with us. We can’t keep track of points otherwise; they’ll just go off into the ether. Accounts are easy to set up. And we never share your information with ANYONE. Ever.
