October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Oct 02, 2019Ann Steeves
April 15, 2010: the day I finished my last round of chemo.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As many of you know, I am a survivor. 10 years ago this November, I was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. Surgery, 4 rounds of chemotherapy, 6 weeks of radiation and 5 years of adjuvant chemotherapy later, plus another 4 ½ years of revised normal, here I am (touch wood). That is thanks to the dedication of many researchers and medical professionals who have devoted their careers and lives to enhancing survivorship and, ultimately, wiping out this disease.

To celebrate, if that's the word you can use, during the month of October, I'll donate 10% of sales of fabrics in the Pink/Red/Purple Category to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Buy yourself some Gorgeous Fabrics, and know that you are helping research, diagnosis, and treatment for those who need it.

Also, if you are a woman over 40, PLEASE make sure to get an annual mammogram. They save lives. I know.

Thanks, and happy sewing
Ann
