Welcome to Gorgeous Fabrics! We Bring the Garment District to Your Door™. Or as Ann's husband likes to say, "The fabrics are all gorgeous, and there's no fleece!"
The fastest way to get in touch with us is by email. Please send inquiries to:
We will get back to you as quickly as possible.
You can also call 617-784-4369.
I've received some DMs on Instagram and Facebook Messenger, but please be aware that I don't check those very often, so if your question is urgent, it's better to email or call.
Our hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM Eastern time.
We accept all major credit cards, as well as Paypal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. If we issue you a refund, the refund is made to the original payment source.
We use USPS Priority Mail to ship your packages in most cases. Large packages may ship by UPS Ground (in the lower 48). We charge the actual cost of shipping plus a small handling fee (between $2 and $3). Because fabric shipping is an inexact science, we use a combination of weight and volume to give an estimate of what it will cost to ship your fabrics to you. US shipping rates are as follows:
Regular shipping: $10.50 (this is the base rate)
Heavy shipping: $22
Wicked heavy shipping: $50
Small items (like thread and bias tape): $5.50
To quote "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," DON'T PANIC (in large, friendly letters) when you see the shipping cost. As soon as I know the actual cost shipping and handling on larger packages, I refund any overage. I want to make your shipping as painless as possible.
US and US territory orders over $200 get FREE SHIPPING.
Please note that any discounts are applied before shipping is calculated. So if your order totals $200 before discount, and you apply the discount to bring your order below $200, shipping is added back to your order.
Domestic shipping rates cover addresses in the US and US territories, APO and FPO.
We ship to the following countries: Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, European Union, Singapore and Japan. The shipping rate is based on weight and volume, and I'll be the first one to tell you that at first glance it
probably definitely looks high. The published rates for shipping to Canada are:
BUT the good news is that, like with US shipping, as soon as I have the actual weight and dimension of your box I will have the actual shipping/handling rate, and I will refund any overage
All international orders ship by USPS priority mail. This avoids unnecessary courier/handling fees by other delivery services.
Also, If you want to combine orders with friends' orders to make shipping more economical, I'm happy to do that. Send me an email with your orders, and I'll combine shipping and refund the overage back to the participants equally.
Please note: you are responsible for any VAT, duties, or other taxes levied by your country.
How We Measure/Cut Your Fabric
We sell fabrics in ½ yard increments, unless indicated otherwise on the fabric's description page. The minimum order for fabric is 2 - in other words, 1 yard. After that each additional half-yard is an incremental number. So if you want 1 ½ yards, enter quantity 3. If you want 2 yards, enter quantity 4. If you need 2 ½ yards, enter quantity 5. I admit it's a pain in the butt, but we're looking for a better solution. In the meantime, thank you for your understanding!
Fabrics are cut in one continuous piece. If you order quantity 3 yards, we send you a continuous length of fabric measuring 3 yards total.
PLEASE NOTE: on cut yardage (i.e. not pieces or panels), the minimum purchase is 1 yard. If you try to change that to 1/2 yard, that product will be removed from your order and refunded.
Fabric is priced per-yard, unless otherwise noted. The minimum purchase is one yard.
You can order most fabrics in 1/2 yard increments, with a minimum purchase of 1 yard of any fabric.
There are some exceptions to this, and we will make it clear in those cases.
Corollary Question: I'm trying to order x yards, but it maxes out at (some number less than x). Why?
The system knows how much we have in stock, and shows that quantity on the fabric's page under the name of the fabric. If you try to order more than we have, it won't let you. For instance, if you want to order 3 yards of a fabric, but we only have 2 yards, it will stop at 2.
If you wish to purchase fabric and have me hold it for up to 4 business days before shipping, please send an email to me as soon as you complete your purchase. I'm happy to combine purchases, if you think you want to add to yours, but you need to let me know along with your order, because I'm famous for shipping lightning fast, and once it's in the Post Office's or UPS' hands, it's gone. All held purchases ship by Friday of the week in which they were bought.
Colors on monitors can vary. Whenever possible, we try to give you the closest Pantone color number. You can click on the Pantone number to see a graphic of it on your monitor. Pantone numbers are our approximation only.
Note that we use the Pantone Fashion Home + Interiors FHI Cotton Passport, 2022 edition. If you have one of the older, retail Fashion and Home decks, or the one from Ma Maison, those don't have all the the 2100+ colors in the Passport. If you can't find a number in your smaller deck, just click on the hot link for that color on the fabric page and it will bring up a page of that color from Pantone's online color matcher.
Of course, the best way to determine whether a fabric is what you want is to get a swatch. You can request up to 5 swatches of fabrics at no charge. If you need more than 5, each additional swatch is $1. Email us with the SKU numbers of the swatches you would like and your mailing address, and we'll send them out by USPS first class mail. Fabrics with less than 5 yards, clearance fabrics, panels, and individual pieces are not available for swatching.
At Gorgeous Fabrics, we want you to love your fabric as much as we do. But we realize that sometimes things just don't turn out right. So we do allow returns within 30 days of purchase. Returns must be in new condition: i.e. uncut and unwashed. If the fabric has been washed or cut, we cannot take it back. Returns are subject to a 20% restocking fee. We do not refund shipping costs, and return shipping is your responsibility.
Please contact us for a return authorization before sending back any fabric. We will not issue any refunds or credits without one.
Returns must be made within 30 days of purchase, no exceptions. After 30 days, all sales are final.
If your fabric arrives damaged or is defective, of course we'll take care of you and handle all the return details. But you need to contact us for a return authorization in any case, and again, you MUST contact us within 30 days of purchase.
Fabrics labeled "AS IS", muslin, notions, tools, thread, and labels are final sale, and are not returnable.
If you need to cancel your order, please let us know ASAP. Once your order is cut (and that's usually the same day you place the order), it's subject to a 20% restocking fee.
Gorgeous Fabrics occasionally donates to select tax-exempt charitable and educational organizations only. If you would like us to provide an in-kind donation to your organization, please contact us. You must provide proof of IRS 501(c)(3) status to be considered. There are no exceptions to this rule.
